DIVYA DUTTA BIOGRAPHY
Divya Dutta is an Indian Bollywood actress. She was born on 25th September 1971 in Tamil Nadu in South India.She is a Punjabi. She has been acting ever since she was a kid. She was selected in a Star Dust talent hunt contest, out of 45000 people which made her very confident in life. She is a Graduate in English Honors and Psychology and belongs to a family of doctors.
Her debut on celluloid was in a relatively unknown film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna (1994) which sank without anyone noticing it. After working hard for ten long years in Bollywood, Divya was finally recognized and appreciated for her work in Veer-Zaara (2004).
Divya’s acting career has been on the rise ever since her award winning (as supporting actress) performance in Yash Chopra’s movie Veer Zaara . Today she is working with directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra , Anil Mehta and Rituparno Ghosh. Her performance in the film Praan Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye (2003) was much talked about in hushed tones by the masses. Although critics have blasted the movie and the bevy of big gun actresses, all of them have referred to Dutta's exploited maid-servant - and the love scene in the film. She also appeared in Des Hoyaa Pardes (2005) a Punjabi film set in the Punjab of 1980s when terrorist activities were going on in the state along with Gurdaas Mann & Juhi Chawla.
On television she has done some very highly popular shows - Superhit Muqabla, Rajesh Khanna's debut serial Ittefaq, Sansar, Kadam - and she also hosted Deepti Bhatnagar's Musafir Hoon Yaaron on Star Plus. She is also acting in the serial Shanno Ki Shaadi featured on Star Plus. She was a part of the cast of Ravi Chopra’s Baghbaan (2003) which was a family drama and one of the biggest hits of the year. She played a slightly negative role in this film. Also, her role in Joggers Park the same year was appreaciated well.
In 2008, Divya was be seen in U, Me Aur Hum and Kaahani Gudiya Kii.
She was nominated for a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award, 2004 for her performance in Veer-Zaara. She was also nominated for Screen Weekly Awards, 2004 for her performance in Veer-Zaara. She won one award for her memorable role in Zee Cine Award Best Actor in a Supporting Role- Female. She was also declared winner of the Stardust talent hunt from among 30,000 candidates. She also won the best actress and best dancer award at the Punjab Youth Festival - 1993.
She did her schooling from Sacred Heart Convent School, Ludhiana. She was first recognized for her work in Shaheed-e-Mohabbat and went on to win more than 25 awards in the film industry,[citation needed] including the Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Veer Zaara and the IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Delhi 6. She has been nominated for the Filmfare and Star Screen Award twice. She also won the Star Sabse Favorite Kaun Award for her role in Welcome to Sajjanpur.
Divya Dutta, who has been in the film industry for more than a decade now, has always been on the sidelines of success. That seems to have changed recently and recognition does not seem so far away anymore.

She was first recognized for dubbing the voice of Lisa Ray in the bold film Kasoor (2001).
